Monomer Recovery
A typical monomer recovery system, based on Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.’s proprietary technology, combines pressure swing adsorption (PSA) with partial condensation to recover a minimum of 99% of propylene and ethylene unreacted monomers and nitrogen from a polyolefin process purge gas. The recovered olefins and diluents are recycled back into the process to produce product. Each system is custom-designed and engineered by Cryo Technologies. This technology offers multiple benefits to the petrochemical industry including:
-
Short-term payback from recovery of unreacted monomers
-
Reduced probability of emission excursions
-
Lower maintenance when compared to competing membrane technology
-
Facilitates nitrogen recovery without capital expenditure for purge column modifications required with competing membrane technology
